Hong Leong Launches Investment-linked Scheme KUALA LUMPUR, May 25 (Bernama) -- Hong Leong Tokio Marine Takaful Bhd (HLTM Takaful) today launched HLTMT i-Invest, a single contribution investment-linked family takaful scheme which provides both investment and protection returns.According to the company, the new scheme is an alternative investment solution for those who seek diversification in medium term investment with takaful protection. "With this HLTMT i-Invest, customers will pay lump sum contribution, of which a portion of their contribution will be invested in funds of their choice, of either income fund or balanced fund," it said in a statement Friday. HLTM Takaful's chief executive officer Ezamshah Ismail said the HLTMT i-Invest is a two-in-one scheme aimed at not only protecting customers' wealth but also increasing it. "This scheme is designed to cater for those seeking a low risk type of investment vehicle that offers a potentially higher fixed deposit benefits," he said. Ezamshah said depending on their risk appetite, customers may choose from two funds available -- income fund and balanced fund. Income fund is a low risk investment aimed at preserving capital and generating stable income through predominant investment in Islamic debt secutities and to a certain degree in equities, he said. Balanced fund, on the other hand, is a low to moderate risk investment which targets medium to long term capital growth and generates regular income through a diversified investment portfolio containing a mixed balance of Islamic debt securities and equities, he added. Both funds will be invested in accordance with Syariah principles and managed in-house and backed by the group's financial services companies throughout Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong, HLTM Takaful said. "The uniqueness of HLTMT i-Invest is that customers will receive both 125 percent of single contribution and the accumulated investment values in the event of death or total permanent disability," the company said. It added that customers who purchase the HLTMT i-Invest from May 21 to July 21, 2007, will enjoy waiver on certain administrative fees. -- BERNAMA
